​Why is it set in Florida?

 

Florida has been a favorite vacation destination of mine for decades. I particular love the Jacksonville area (especially the Atlantic Beach and Orange Park areas) and Cocoa Beach; and I would be negligent if I forgot to mention my love of Cocoa Beach stemmed, in part, from watching “I Dream of Jeannie” as a child. I decided to set Masquerade in Florida as a tribute to all of the wonderful vacations I’ve taken there since the early 1970s. Plus, it helped with Beth’s career.
